These rules have been battle-tested, such that they are quite fair. It’s entirely a matter of shooting skill. Moving cups around, defending, and otherwise interfering with the game isn’t allowed, because it’s hard to standardize. This set of rules is known to scale up to include dozens of teams, and only rarely have I ever witnessed any violence when following these rules.
I have to say that I think these are the Roberts Rules of Beer Bowling. Anything less is actually more litigious, leading to such bullshit as negotiation, uncertainty, and inconsistency. These rules are able to be followed in a completely fair way.
